World 400m champion Salwa Eid Naser banned

v Bahrain’s world 400 metres champion Salwa Eid Naser will miss the Tokyo Olympics after being given a two-year ban by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) for an anti-doping violation by missing out-of-competition tests.

v The 23-year-old Naser, who was born in Nigeria but competes for Bahrain, ran the fastest women’s 400 since 1985 to win the world title in 2019 in Doha, Qatar.

v Sport’s highest court, however, said that she would not be stripped of her results from the 2019 world championships as it had sufficient evidence that she did not gain from doping practices then.
