India’s Vinod Kumar wrote his name in history books as he clinched the bronze in the men’s discus throw to add the third medal to the country’s tally in Tokyo Paralympics.
Vinod Kumar broke Asian Record with the best throw of 19.91m to finish third behind Poland’s Piotr Kosewiczwin and win the bronze medal in discus throw. With three medals, India are one short of equalling their best-ever tally at a Paralympics. India had bagged four medals at the 2016 Rio Games.
Vinod, an ex-BSF jawan suffered an unfortunate accident that left him paralyzed and bed-ridden for more than a decade. Vinod had overcome numerous challenges before he finally came across his true destiny, para-sports. Taking inspiration from Indian Paralympians at Rio 2016, he decided to take up sports & soon began training.
