Lovlina Borgohain bags Bronze Medal in Tokyo Olympics

Boxer Lovlina Borgohain has bagged a Bronze Medal in 69-kilogram category after she lost to World Champion Busenaz Surmeneli of Turkey in semi-finals. This is the third medal for the country. Earlier, PV Sindhu won a Bronze Medal in Badminton while Mira Bai Chanu lifted a Silver Medal in weightlifting.

ª Lovlina is the third Indian boxer after Vijender Singh (bronze in 2008 Beijing Olympics) and Mary Kom (bronze in 2012 London Olympics) to win an Olympic medal. Borgohain is the first female athlete and the second boxer from Assam to represent the country in the Olympics. In 2020, she became the sixth person from Assam to receive Arjuna Award.
